My name is Laura Ecclestone and I graduated in 2008. I am the Store Director of a large jeweller in Canada.

I had heard of CGA through my teacher at a college where I studied Jewellery Design. I had decided to enroll in the daytime accelerated course to give myself a professional edge on the competition. Not only has my education proved successful, I have fallen in love with the gem world through the passionately written syllabus.

The program is exciting and challenging! The staff and instructors are incredibly knowledgable and supportive. Being a fellow member has many benefits as well. With CGA at your core, you are grounded in an industry that is constantly changing and have access to strong contacts in the trade.

Ottawa Lapsmiths

I was the Chair of the Annual Gem, Mineral and Jewellery Show and Sale of the Ottawa Lapsmith and Mineral Club for over 15 years. I am delighted to write a testimonial for the Canadian Gemmological Association (CGA). I am proud that the Ottawa Show has become one of the best shows in Ontario and I have received this feedback from dealers for many years now. Our volunteers say that they hear this every year. And I have no doubt in believing that the rave reviews that our show receives are enhanced by the presence of the booth of the Canadian Gemmological Asociation. CGA has been attending the Ottawa Show since I became the Chair, and going back to the 1980s (about 30 years). Our dealers and volunteers tell us that they refer visitors to the booth of CGA whenever there is a question about the identity of a stone in jewellery. The dealers say that the presence of CGA lends credibility to their products. There is always a lineup for the services of CGA. Their volunteers work for two entire days during the show with virtually no time off even to eat. The professionalism of their services is greatly appreciated year after year.

Completing the 'Diploma in Gemmology' program with the Canadian Gemmological Association is one of the highlights of my educational pursuits and gemmological adventures.

Dacques and Duncan3I am thankful for the wonderful administration, dedicated instr
uctors and CGA alumni for their friendship.  As a student body we were privileged to have thorough course instruction and introductions to the Canadian Diamond Bourse, world class auctioneers and a top appraisal firm, as well as a behind-the-scenes visit at the Royal Ontario Museum.

The city is fun, convenient and stimulating.  Valuable insight into mineralogy, crystallography, diamonds, colored stones and gem identification will surely provide the student with a solid foundation as a gemmologist. As a graduate from CGA, you will stand tall among the industry with CGA's Fellowship title FCGmA.  Follow your passion and live your dreams…
